Cardiff Bay is a great place to capture a wide variety of historic and modern buildings. We’ve used this as a test for all our scanning hardware, so started off with the Pierhead Building. This was built in 1897 as the headquarters for the Bute Dock Company and remains one of the most spectacular structures in the Bay due to its ornate terracotta detailing. The examples below were acquired with the GLS-2000 in ‘detailed’ mode, and choosing the option to scan an area defined by the video feed on the onboard colour screen.

Detail mode proved excellent for getting good coverage of points on tricky surfaces such as grey roof slates
